Do I need X-rays at each visit
X-ray schedules are customized depending on your oral health. An adult patient without history of cavities or other problems for a couple of years won’t need X-rays at every appointment. If an adult patient has less stable dental situation and if the dentist is monitoring the progress, the patient may require more X-rays. If you are a new patient, the dentist will take x-rays to evaluate your oral health and track it during future visits.
Dental X-rays are valuable part of dental treatment because they can show condition of your teeth, their roots, gums, your jaw placement and facial bones, abnormal growths and impacted teeth that are not visible during a routine checkup. Dental X-rays can also assist dental treatment plan, including tooth implants, braces and dentures.
Dental X-ray requires very low levels of radiation exposure that they are considered safe for children and adults. A dental professional will cover you with a heavy lead apron to protect your body from radiation. M Dental Group uses advanced digital X-rays instead of film developed X-rays, making risks of radiation exposure even lower. M Dental Group has also adopted Morpheus- a zero radiation omitting 3D scanner- for special treatment purposes.
If you have taken X-rays recently at another dental office or have concerns, call our office prior to your visit. Our staffs will walk you through the process.
